Lukoil Begins Industrial Development of the Komandirshorskaya Group of Fields in the Nenets Autonomous District
Lukoil has implemented the first stage of a large investment project in the Nenets Autonomous District of Russia: after constructing and commissioning the Komandirshor oil preparation unit (OPU) with a capacity of over 800,000 tonnes of oil a year, the company began industrial development of the Komandirshorskaya group of fields, Interfax reported on September 10, 2026. The fields lie in the Layskiy Bar of the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province, and the infrastructure built under the project is expected to enable the development of nearby oil fields as well.
The first stage of a large investment project
The move to industrial development follows the completion of the project's first stage. Its central facility is the Komandirshor OPU: the unit was constructed and commissioned with a capacity of over 800,000 tonnes of oil a year, and its start-up is what allowed Lukoil to begin industrial development of the Komandirshorskaya group of fields. Construction of the OPU began in December 2023, and the commissioning of the unit completed the construction phase of the first stage.
